Athens – With increasing tensions over violence against the Kurdish minority, and a recent travel warning issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mediterranean Airlines and other airlines flying between the Athenian Federation and Iraq have cancelled their flights to Iraq. Some flights will continue to allow for Athenian citizens already in the country to return. The travel warning includes instructions for said citizens to return as soon as possible.
The step is the next one in a chain of deteriorating relations between the two countries. Reports show that since the return of the Empress, the Hellenic Forces have redirected forces east. Analysts with the Amari Institute believe that this is a prelude to near-future military action. The numbers however do not seem to support a ground invasion.
All travelers affected can obtain a refund from the vacation insurance service.
