In cooperation with the University of Twente’s Nuclear Physics department, the People’s Liberation Army has successfully tested its first nuclear weapon. The test took place over the North Sea in a marked off zone within the Dutch EEZ. Warnings to not enter the area had been issued to neighbouring governments as well as all companies known to be active in the area.

The development of nuclear weapons makes the Netherlands the third of such a power in the world and the first communist government. Congratulating the scientists and military involved, President van Luxemburg stated “the ultimate weapon no longer listens to capital alone. By conquering the atom we have taken the one advantage the monarchists and capitalists had over us. We can now defend our revolution against any force that would extinguish it.”

Now that the first weapon has been successfully tested the People’s Liberation Army is expected to create land, air and sea launched variants to guarantee a Dutch nuclear capability at all times.
